Rhinoplasty
The nose is the most prominent feature on a person's face. For some people, the size and shape of their nose is a source of self-consciousness and low self-esteem. Rhinoplasty is a common surgical procedure for people of all ages to reshape the bridge, tips, or nostrils of the nose to a desired shape and size for cosmetic and functional purposes.
Rhinoplasty Procedure
Connecticut plastic surgeon Anya Kishinevsky provides exceptional rhinoplasty solutions to her patients using advanced techniques to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing results. There are two types of rhinoplasty surgery:
- Open rhinoplasty- After making an incision across the columella and lifting the skin off the tip of the nose, Dr. Kishinevsky sculpts the underlying cartilage into the desired shape.
- Closed rhinoplasty- Dr. Kishinevsky makes incisions on the inside of the nostrils to remove, add, or reshape cartilage. Because the incisions are made in the nostrils in the closed procedure, scars will not be visible after the healing process.
Once the nose has been shaped, the incisions are closed with sutures and a splint is put in place. The nose is then filled with gauze to keep the septum in place. Recovery from rhinoplasty surgery typically takes two to three weeks.

Fortunately, Connecticut Dr. Anya Kishinevsky can perform otoplasty, or ear surgery, which is a safe and highly effective procedure that alters the size and shape of the ears to improve their appearance and boost patients' self-esteem.
Otoplasty Procedure Options
There are two techniques used for otoplasty surgery - cartilage scoring and cartilage sparing. These two otoplasty techniques can be combined for exceptional results:
- Cartilage-scoring otoplasty surgery involves making an incision behind the ear to remove, add, or reshape the ear cartilage. Excess skin is also removed, and the ear is repositioned to lie flat against the head.
- In the cartilage-sparing otoplasty procedure, stitches are used to reshape and reposition the ear, resulting in smooth and natural-looking curves that are more aesthetically pleasing.
- If patients wish to correct the size of their ears, Dr. Kishinevsky can also perform ear reduction surgery to remove unwanted cartilage and skin to create a smaller ear. Ear reduction surgery is usually combined with otoplasty to provide the correct balance and symmetry of the ears to the head.

Facial Implants
